LIMONCELLO | 2019 | WITH TANTRI MUSTIKA | HEIDE MUSEUM
It started with me bugging Tantri for a vase to glaze on. We fired it and when it emerged toasty hot the following evening and we were, to say the least, very sure of what our project together might look like. The Heide museum swiftly got in touch and approached us for a special commission to coincide with their current show Temptation To Co-Exist, JANET BURCHILL AND JENNIFER MCCAMLEY, which is about the meeting of two different art practises.
‘Limoncello’ brings together Tantri’s cliff face terrazzo forms with the addition of new ‘Bumped’ cylindrical vase and cups referencing my signature warped forms. After Tantri’s skillful form construction, she then kindly allowed me the freedom to paint these pieces with glaze using colours evoking warm italian summers, dramatic evening skylines and calm, earthy moments in peaceful terrazzo courtyards. Each piece is a unique, highly tactile and reflects our styles honestly and boldly.
